We live in a snacking nation. About 94 percent of American's snack daily. With a busy schedule and a long day, your employees just need a snack. The word "snack" is usually associated with high-calorie foods like cookies and chips. These foods lead to health problems that could result in empty desks. You know your employees are snacking, so why not offer them better options so they can snack successfully, and improve the company 

 

 

Get Employee Feedback 

Before you can choose the snacks for the office, you need to get your employees feedback. Send out an email with a list food options, and an opening for suggestions. Besides choosing the food, you need to ask employees to list their allergies. Getting a haul of snacks that all contain peanuts wouldn't turn out well if 5 out of your 15 employees are allergic.  

 

Try to be Healthier 

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. As a small business, you know just how much having healthy employees matter. A healthy lifestyle could save your business, and employee's money.  A good way to improve your employee's health is by only having healthy foods available to snack on. Now, we're using the term "healthy" loosely. These are employees, not dieters, so there's no need to be too extreme. Just a simple healthier alternative will do.  

 

Fruit 

Fruit is a magical food category that is good for you and tastes sinful. Grapes are a bit pricey, and strawberries go bad fast, so keep these things in mind when choosing which fruit to provide. We recommend the basics such as apples, bananas, and oranges. These fruits are portable and mess-free. Your employees will be able to snack, and not feel overly full to where they want to fall asleep on the job. 

 

Baked Chips 

Chips aren't good for your body, but again, you're trying to make your business healthier, not sadder. Baked chips do a great job of providing workers with the same feeling of eating regular potato chips. Baked chips tend to have fewer calories, fat, and sodium. As a treat, baked chips can be a healthy alternative for employees.  

 

Granola Bars  

Granola bars are simple to eat while working, and they satisfy a sweet tooth. Beware of the candy bars in disguise though. Opt for options like Kind and Larabar's. These bars offer less sugar, but the same great taste. 

 

 

Free Lunch 

So, you're probably thinking first they want me to provide snacks, and now free lunch! 

Keep your cool, it will all work out. Providing a monthly free lunch doesn't have to cost you a leg. The idea is to bring employees together for a good atmosphere with laughs, and team building. A happy team makes for a good business. While going out is nice, it isn't always needed. If money is an issue then opt for a good old-fashioned potluck. This way everyone brings in a dish, and nothing comes out of your pocket. You'll still get the same bonding effect, and even more, socialization since they'll be talking to the chef of the delicious spaghetti they're eating.  

 

 

Supply Water  

Whether a water dispenser, purification, tank, or fountain, your business needs to provide safe water for employees to drink. Having a water bottle on hand is a good habit, but someone shouldn't dehydrate because they forgot their bottle. A simple solution to keeping employee's thirst quenched is having a water cooler. You've probably heard a lot about water cooler conversations, and for good reason. Many businesses provide their employees with water coolers to keep them hydrated and keep them on task. Staying hydrated has major effects on energy levels and employee brain functioning.  

 

 

Coffee Machine 

There is no discrimination in the coffee world. Men and women consume the same amount of coffee per day. About 83 percent of adults in the United States drink coffee. With data like this, it's apparent why you should invest in a coffee machine. Drinking coffee also has a plethora of health benefits. Coffee has been linked to lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes. On average, diabetes expenditures costs about $13,000 per year. Meaning a coffee machine could save your employees money, and yourself money if you are under a self-benefit insurance plan. Coffee also reduces the risk of depression, increases fiber intake, and reduces the risk of colon cancer. Increased caffeine to wake up employees is also a plus. At the very least a coffee machine can cost you $15, but it can possibly save you and employees thousands
